Today we had just two items on the agenda: enjoying a traditional Norwegian sauna and staking out the Northern Lights.
As you can tell from the featured image of this post, the weather was still too cloudy to see the dancing lights. However, we could still clearly see the Aurora diffused through the clouds, which only amplified my sense of FOMO. Still, the landscape in Norway is breathtaking with or without celestial lightshows.
After sitting in the sauna for ~15 minutes, we decided to try plunging into the Arctic ocean. Haleigh dipped her feet in, but I threw myself in and fully submerged myself. Twice. The first time was greatly helped by the fact that our resort friends from the UK were also plunging at the same time… so our mutual peer pressure had us both dunking ourselves so as not to be outdone. The ladies were much more sensible, but we all got the “Arctic Swimmer” certificate from the resort. 😂
This trip was fantastic. I was so happy to explore Norway with Haleigh, rain or shine, and very thankful for my team at Vercel for supporting and encouraging me to completely unplug, despite only being there a few weeks. We’ve got a long travel day ahead of us tomorrow and we’re very much looking forward to seeing our hounds and sleeping in our own bed. We’ll have to try this whole vacation thing again, but this time not wait years to take a duo adventure together.
